According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) washing your hands with plain soap and water is the best way to decrease your chance of getting sick or spreading infection. Practice self-care by washing your hands often for at least 20 seconds. Plain soap is stressed over antibacterial soap as more research needs to be done. There is a chance that antibacterial soap may do more harm than good in the long run.

If soap and water aren't available the CDC recommends using a hand sanitizer that is at least 60% alcohol. Dispense onto your hands and rub. Allow to air dry. No water is needed.

As an Avon Rep, of course I suggest the #Avon scented soaps and hand gels. These are gentle to use without drying your hands out, smell great, and the hand gel tube will fit into most purses and kills 99.9% of bacteria.

There is a new line, #AvonDefense that covers everything for the cold and flu season, really during anytime of the year. Besides masks and nitrile gloves there are soaps, hand cleansing wipes and other products designed to help you stay healthy.

I know everyone is already aware that staying hydrated is also important. Our bodies are composed mostly of water and work best when we are hydrated. Don’t rely on thirst to tell you to drink. Sometimes we can think we’re hungry but it’s actually our bodies looking for hydration.

Some signs of dehydration are darker than usual urine, muscle cramps, fatigue, dry mouth and dizziness. Hydration doesn’t have to come strictly from water. There are plenty of fruits and vegetables that will do the trick; watermelon, cucumbers, oranges, lettuce and more. You can also flavor your water if plain water isn’t your thing. Avon has a delicious berry flavor hydration drink mix you’ll love, re:tune Beauty Hydration.
